Basic Needs Grant Opportunity 2014-2015
United Way of Pioneer Valley is committed to supporting and sustaining strong communities in Hampden County, South Hadley and Granby, Massachusetts through its Community Impact initiatives. Community Impact has three primary focus areas – Education, Income and Health. Consistent with the Community Impact approach, UWPV funds programs that effectively identify community need and that are designed to achieve measureable impact.
UWPV is seeking proposals for its Basic Needs Grant Program. These grants will support programs and services that provide temporary, short-term food, shelter, and heating assistance to stabilize those individuals and families faced with an emergency due to loss of employment, housing, natural disaster, etc. Grants will be awarded for a period of 12 months from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015. The purpose of the Basic Needs Grant Program is to support and sustain strong communities in Hampden County, South Hadley, and Granby, Massachusetts.

- Information session for applicants: Febraury 11 and February 12, 2014
- Online Letter of Intent to apply due: February 14, 2014 by 4:30 p.m.
- Notify Agencies selected to submit an Application: February 21, 2014
- Online (selected) Applications for funding due: March 21, 2014 by 4:30 p.m.
- Notification of funding decisions: May 30, 2014
- Signed Memorandum of Understanding due: end of June 2014
- Funding released (quarterly): July2014

We will hold two information sessions for interested organizations. We encourage all applicants to attend one of the Information Sessions at United Way, 1441 Main Street (TD Bank Building), Springfield, Massachusetts, Economic Development Council (EDC) Conference Room:
Session #1: February 11, 2014. – 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Session #2: February 12, 2014. – 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
