PLEASE CONSIDER HELPING US AGAIN THIS HOLIDAY SEASON
Feed a Family in the Pioneer Valley
By Paul L. Mina
President & CEO United Way of Pioneer Valley
As we welcome the fall season and approach the Holidays, I am reminded that this is traditionally the most generous time of year when we lend a hand to those most in need. While national, regional and local unemployment rates may have fallen – many to historic lows – thousands of our neighbors and friends here in the Pioneer Valley go to work every day but still can’t make ends meet. These are the “underemployed” among us.
Here at the United Way of Pioneer Valley we have focused for decades on funding “safety net” services that assist this very vulnerable population. One such service area is our food security initiative where food pantries and congregate meal programs feed hungry individuals and families in our region. Last year, because of your generosity, United Way funded programs provided over 251,000 meals here in the Pioneer Valley! While an impressive number, the need unfortunately continues to increase rapidly and donations lag far behind.
So we are asking you to support our first ever “Feed A Family” drive to end hunger by making a contribution today. Your support of $50.00 (any amount is greatly appreciated) or more will allow us to keep providing this vital funding here in our local communities in support of:
- The Gray House (Springfield)
- Home City Development Inc. (Springfield)
- Neighbors Helping Neighbors (South Hadley)
- Open Pantry Community Services (Springfield)
- Our Community Food Pantry (Southwick)
- Providence Ministries for the Needy (Holyoke)
- Salvation Army Holyoke Corps (Holyoke)
- Salvation Army of Springfield (Springfield)
- Springfield Rescue Mission (Springfield)
Won’t you please help us today?
All funds remain local and will help improve the quality of life for thousands of our neighbors and friends.
I thank you in advance for your generosity.
