Financial Stability for Hampden County
Free Tax Assistance (VITA program)
UWPV works with local organizations to support free tax assistance services to residents of the region. The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. is provided by Springfield Partners for Community Action and the Valley Opportunity Council with funding support by UWPV. Eligible families may be available for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) which helps bring needed funds back to these households and to the region. 2012- 2013 Income Areas Grantmaking
- Enable economically insecure individuals and
families facing housing instability to maintain housing e.g. foreclosure
prevention, tenant education, etc
- Increase individual and family income through
participation in income support programs such as EITC, SNAP benefits, etc.
- Increase in the number of households that use
mainstream banking and other financial services aimed at strengthening
financial management practices
- Increase in participation in ESOL, GED,
pre-vocational or other trainings that provide greater opportunities for
personal advancement and financial stability
