Volunteerism

Volunteers during United Way's Day of Caring

Volunteerism is at the very heart of our mission.

From the pantry to the boardroom, we leverage our unique position as a community connector to promote and expand volunteer opportunities throughout the Pioneer Valley. In this way, we build the capacity of our local nonprofit organizations together, united by our shared determination to help others and strengthen our communities.

VolunteerConnect is United Way’s volunteerism program, comprised of engaging, useful, and relevant activities in a variety of mediums.

Our redesigned Volunteer Portal is LIVE! This is where nonprofit organizations from across the Pioneer Valley post their open volunteer positions.

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

Corporate or Group Opportunities

Done in a Day Volunteering

If you have a group interested in volunteering at a local nonprofit, please contact Alexandra Maggio to discuss your interest, schedule and options. We have over 100 nonprofits that can benefit from your group volunteer efforts!

Remote Volunteerism

Many nonprofits are not able to host large groups on site, due to space, staff capacity and available equipment. Consider remote volunteerism as a way to help humanitarian causes! Kit packing and item assembly give local nonprofits the resources they need to maintain their impact, while allowing employees or groups to volunteer in their office or at home.

This is an extremely inclusive way to make a meaningful contribution and expand giving to all type of agencies. Groups can choose to pack kits such as cold weather gear, hygiene kits or healthy snack kits or assemble bikes, cribs and playhouses to name a few.

Board-level Volunteer Engagement

OnBoard is a volunteer leadership development program that includes an annual Board-level volunteer matching event. More information about this program can be found at the OnBoard page.
