Event Benefits Students Who Are Homeless in Region
Springfield, MA; United Way of Pioneer Valley will be kicking off the annual event with Peter Pan Bus Lines to fill 2,200 backpacks with school supplies to help students who are homeless in our region. The Kick-Off event will be held in front of Springfield City Hall at 10:30 AM on Friday July 12th, with a Peter Pan Bus also on site.
JANUARY 14, 2019 -- As the government shutdown enters its 24th day, the effects are starting to be felt by the 420,000 federal employees working without pay and the 380,000 federal employees who have been furloughed. Last week, thousands of federal employees missed their first paychecks of 2019. Just as significant, during shutdown, janitors, security guards, and other federal contractors receive no back pay.
In response, the United Way of Pioneer Valley and its community partners are preparing for an expected uptick in calls to 2-1-1 from those seeking assistance with rent and mortgage payments, utility bills and groceries. Log on to www.mass211.org for further information.
Westfield, MA: Westfield Technical Academy Students with United Way of Pioneer Valley (UWPV)’s Youth Generate program have organized a blood drive with the Red Cross this Thursday April 26, 7:30am-3:00pm, at Westfield Technical Academy.
